Schloss Lichtenberg: website for the castle ruin

Lichtenberg castle ruin at 1,020 m, Prad am Stilfserjoch

A website for the castle ruin above Prad

Lichtenberg castle ruin stands at 1,020 m above Prad am Stilfserjoch. It dates back to around 1200 and is open all year round, free of charge. As our own project we built a website for it in three languages. It tells the story of the castle, shows the famous Laurin frescoes, helps you plan your visit and has its own area for children.

What we built

  • History you can click

More than 800 years on an interactive timeline, from around 1200 to 1993. Each station opens with a click and tells its part of the story. There are also pages on the Khuen-Belasi family and on the myths and legends around the castle.

  • The Laurin frescoes

The fresco cycle was painted around 1400, rescued from 1907 to 1912 and is now kept at the Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck. On the website the 5 picture scenes fold open one by one.

  • Plan your visit

Getting there by car and bus, hiking trails from Prad, the circular walk, the Bergwaal irrigation path of Glurns and the Archaik Trail. Plus a map with directions and live weather at the castle, so you know what to expect up there.

  • Children's area

A knight, a king, a princess and a farmer guide kids through a world of their own. With a story, a quiz and the page "Your dream castle". The trip becomes an adventure before it even starts.

  • Community

Visitor reviews, a social media section and a newsletter keep people in touch. In the members' area you can register and log in.

  • Tech and SEO

Structured data for Google (JSON-LD), a parallax hero image and the option to install the site as an app on your phone (PWA).
